What is it?
The World XCM Tournament is a 9 month tournament where expert manipulators from around the world battle until there is only 1 left, who is crowned champion and given a ton of prizes, the famous silver trophy, and the title of "World XCM Champion". There are also great prizes for 2nd and 3rd place, however the biggest benefit from this competition is the knowledge and skill you gain just by participating. It is also a great stage to be seen by people around the world.
When does it begin?
Tournament officially begins on 1 August 2009.
Who can enter?
Anyone
How do I sign-up?
Sign up here and include your video intro showing your face and a joker.
When do sign-ups end?
Sign up through Sunday, 19 July and brackets start, so don't wait to sign up! Monday Germany time they will be closed out.
What if I am taking vacation or cannot be around on 1 August?
We are releasing the details now on Round one - no cuts so you can make the video now and submit.
What are the prizes?
1rst place - SH Trophy, one of De'vo's exclusive "Secret Books", a limited edition (sold out) Superhandz Warz print, and an opportunity to have a 1 on 1 session with Jerry or De'vo.
Why should I enter?
To improve yourself, and to be recognized and seen all over the world. Not to mention that if you win, you have a great chance on appearing on television/movies/commercials in your country and around the world.
How does it work?
The World XCM Tournament is a double elimination tournament in which you submit a video of about 1 minutes to 3 minutes long doing manipulation within the requirement of a specific round. You will be paired up in each round with another manipulation expert and a panel of expert judges will judge and declare winners. You have to lose 2 times to be out of the tournament, and everyone with the possible exception of 1 will lose at least 1 time. Pairing up partners starts with seeding, then is completely random. The best always end up on top regardless of who they are paired with.
What should I train?
The World XCM Tournament requires you to be fluent in all aspects of XCM, from cuts to fans, armspreads, perching, aerials, table work and much much more. You must be good in all categories to make it to the top and be creative and skillful.
I don't think I'm good enough, should I even enter? YES! You have NOTHING to lose entering the tournament! Only skill, knowledge and experience to gain! All of the best up and coming XCM Artists have gotten better through entering our tournament. You should definately enter!
Example
If round #1 was - Cuts, then you would be paired up with someone to battle. Both of you would make a video of cuts - normally about 1 minute of uncut footage and submitt (by uploading to youtube) between 2 and 3 weeks. Once submitted, the judges would view and rate them, then declare a winner and go to the next round.
There is no fees to enter and nothing to lose! You have everything to gain! Our XCM tournament is designed to push your boundaries and force you to explore new ideas outside of the norm... this helps you grow as an artist! Everyone who has entered has learned something from the experience! Also just watching the tournament videos is inspiring! Competition drives you to get better, and Handlordz designed rounds challenges your artistic and technical abilities. The fastest or most experience do not always win - not here,,,, it's the creative and consistant artists that win tournaments! XCM is about artistic expression by using playing cards, and the tournament will help you explore this wonderful artform.
